A Diamond's "Value" is based on the 4 C's. = Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat

Describes the shape of the Diamond and how it has been made to reflect light, giving it's sparkle.

Light goes in the top, is reflected throughout the Diamond and back to the top. The better the cut = the better it sparkles.

When light escapes through the sides of the Diamond, it will not reflect the light very well and looks very different.

 

Diamonds range in colour from Fine White D, through to Z

Most Diamonds sold are in the D to I range.

The white Diamonds are most popular for Engagement rings.

Marks and impurities within a Diamond.

The easier to see these in the Diamond, the lower the grade (clarity), reducing it’s value.

The weight of the Diamond.  Often called  “50 point” or  “Half carat” = .50ct   or   “One carat”   = 1.00ct.

An Average Engagement ring has between a Half carat (.50ct.) to 1.00 carat Diamond.

Average costs for these rings are between $5,000 and $12,000 depending on the Diamond selected.
