The 4 C’s
Carat:
Most people know that Carat refers to the size of a Diamond and is a major part of determining its value (and price), but not many people realise what it actually refers to is the weight of a Diamond.
Imagine a brick that weighs 1kg, and a 1kg bag of apples. They look completely different right?
But, they both weigh exactly the same.
Diamonds are no different.
Two Diamonds may be the same ‘Size’, but this doesn’t mean they’re the same dimensions and it’s important to be aware of this.
This is where most guys and gals think comparing 2 Diamonds is quite easy and they are just priced differently … and one is the ‘better buy’.
The problem is, they may both have the same ‘Carat Weight’ but one will look much smaller when viewed from the top.
TIP:
No point buying a Diamond ring with a Diamond that looks smaller than it is supposed to be, just because it was cheaper.
CUT:
This is just one of the important elements that makes a diamond sparkle.
Light enters through the top of the diamond, reflects around it and returns to the top.
When a diamond is cut well, with beautiful balance and reflection it creates amazing sparkle and scintillation.
These diagrams show how a diamonds cut can affect both it’s visual size and the way light passes through.
Ultimately, it’s affecting it’s true ‘TOP’ size, appearance and value.

Clarity:
This is the term used to describe how particles in the Diamond can impact the value and appearance of each Diamond.
All pure Envy Diamonds are hand selected, independently graded and re checked to meet our own design and quality standards.
Diamonds are a science, knowing how to look into a Diamond and understand the strengths and weaknesses of a stone and how it’s internal characteristics effects the appearance, sparkle and price is the key.
It’s why our rings always contain the very best Diamonds and each one passes our quality controls to give you peace of mind knowing we only use the very best.

COLOUR:
Diamonds range in colours from Fine White, Champagne (light browns) and shades of Yellow.
Most fine jewellery features Diamonds within the colour ranges of D-I and champagne Diamonds are also becoming increasingly popular.
When we talk about White diamonds, most people are after a Diamond that looks nice and white and is without any hints of yellow.
They are graded along an alphabetical scale, starting at D (colourless) and going through to Z.
The higher towards the top of the chart (D) a Diamond sits, the more expensive it will be.
It’s again important to remember that these grades are just a guide and all of the different elements work together, but generally you will pay a premium for D & E coloured stones and get the best value for your money in the F-H range.
