In 2002, Scott and his wife Cathy opened Pure Envy to meet what they saw as a gap in the retail jewellery industry.

The aim was to provide customers with a unique destination experience unlike anything provided by other jewellers in Adelaide.  Their showroom was a reflection of this, with its high ceilings, floor to ceiling glass and crisp white interior.

What grew from this was a desire to create a destination experience for customers, where they are made to feel special and have the importance of their occasion reflected in a quality custom made piece. Somewhere they could feel comfortable, listened to and trust that they would end up with the perfect piece at a very comparable price.

Scott began his working life at the age of 15 as an early school leaver and eager to get his hands onto the tools and create his impact in the world and other people’s lives.
His first career began in a carpentry workshop but soon opened up into working inside a jewellery workshop for a wholesale wedding ring production company. After he was quickly offered an apprenticeship he entered a National Jewellery competition and won an award for Best Design and Craftsmanship in Australia.  While at the Award ceremony, he saw his piece up on the large screen being applauded by his peers within the industry.

It was at this moment he cemented his career choice and grew his passion to create his own designs and style of craftsmanship.

His passion for utilising both traditional and modern methods to create stunning works of art is his way of making pieces to represent people and important events in their lives. Mastering jewellery alone wasn’t where he stopped as his passion for creating quality saw him go on to learn and master the craft of Diamond and Gemstone setting, a very unique and specialised field, and resulted in him setting over 45,000 gemstones in the first two years.

The next 11 years saw an accumulation of Head Jeweller and both running the jewellery workshop and mastering the art of creating the new company designs.

For the first 11 years at this company he honed his skills and craft before spending the next 3 years in his own private workshop as a contract private manufacturing jeweller for the industry and private clients.

During this time the part of his career as a professional Diamond setter came to love and has been responsible for setting some incredible designs  for many award winning competition pieces for other jewellers.

After over 30 years and the opening of the Pure Envy Hyde Park Showroom in 2002, the family and the brand have become well known specialist for thousands of happy customers who want value, quality, and someone they can love to deal with and invest their trust in.

Being an Artisan there are no craftsmen or craftswomen the same. There are never two pieces of jewellery that are the same when they are custom made this way .

Each of the designs and fine pieces of beautiful jewellery Pure Envy make, enable the creator and wearer to tell their story.  There are no limits when designing or finding new ways to work with metals and create unique pieces and leaving his fingerprint on such cherished and important momentos is what Scott loves most.

His craft is a form of self expression. It provides a great sense of achievement with the completion of each piece and the excitement you see when someone sees their piece for the first time.  After 30 years the desire to push the boundaries further still excites and fuels a philosophy he has passed on to his entire team today.

Scott also has a passion for helping others, from the many charities Pure Envy has supported, through to his own personal contribution and love of helping others as evidenced through things such as his involvement and motivational coaching, helping other people build their own businesses both online and offline, helping mentor troubled youths and being an active role model and encourager of youths as part of the Ice Factor program.

As Scott excitedly explains, “We are each given this gift of life and are put here for a purpose to both help and inspire others to feel free and proud to express who they are and all the things that they can aspire to be.”
